  The fully accredited Brandon Regional Health Centre is accepting applications for the position of a General Surgeon to start July 1, 2017.
Required Qualifications:    
  • Fellowship from the Royal College of Canada
  • Current licensure or eligibile for licence with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Manitoba
  • Preferred training and/or experience with vascular surgery

Prairie Mountain Health is currently recruiting a General Surgeon to the city of Brandon. Brandon Regional Health Centre is the regions primary referral centre, serving a population in excess of 150,000 residents. The 313-bed Regional Health Centre has 56 Surgical Beds, 6 Operating Rooms and 1 Minor Surgery Procedure Room. Our diagnostic Services include radiology, ultrasound, CT, MRI, and nuclear medicine. Applicants will have the opportunity to join one of the various clinics located throughout the city. This position offers an attractive amount of OR time not found in large tertiary centres with manageable on call volumes. There are also multiple teaching opportunities if this is of interest to the applicant.

This individual should be a team player, be able to interact effectively with patients, colleagues, staff and management, and function well in a high volume environment with a commitment to provision of high quality patient and family centered care.

Brandon is a thriving city with a population of over 48,000, located 200 km west of Winnipeg on the TransCanada Highway. It is large enough to supply all the retail, medical, educational and cultural needs on a daily basis and small enough to avoid high costs of living and travel problems.  Brandon University has a significant reputation in music, general arts and science programs. Assiniboine Community College provides a wide range of education options. Riding Mountain National Park is one hour north of the city, and the Peace Gardens are situated on the Manitoba/North Dakota border just over an hour to the south.  There are numerous other recreational areas in Western Manitoba.  Dubbed “The Host City”, Brandon’s enthusiastic volunteer base land many provincial, national and international events.  The “Wheat City” is a vibrant community in which to live, work and play.
