Qualifications

  • Must hold fellowship from the Royal College of Canada, or be Royal College eligible.

  • Must provide proof of acceptable malpractice coverage prior to starting practice.

Remuneration

Remuneration is derived from fee-for-service billing as per the current Manitoba physician’s manual negotiated in the Master Agreement between the Minister of Health

Description

Prairie Mountain Health (PMH) is currently recruiting Anesthesiologists to the city of Brandon. Brandon Regional Health Centre is the region’s primary referral centre, serving a population in excess of 150,000 residents. The over 300 bed Regional Health Centre has 48 Medical Beds, 56 Surgical Beds, 9 Adult Intensive Care Beds, 20 Obstetrical Beds, 6 Operating Rooms and 1 Minor Surgery Procedure Room. Diagnostic Services include radiology, ultrasound, CT, MRI, and nuclear medicine. Successful applicants will provide anesthetic care throughout the surgical and obstetric programs, including supervision and teaching of students and residents. The successful applicants will also be required to participate in an on-call rota of approximately 1 in 4.

Successful Applicants will be team players, able to interact effectively with patients, colleagues, staff and management, and function well in a high volume environment with a commitment to provision of high quality patient and family centered care.

Brandon is a thriving city with a population of over 48,000, located 200 km west of Winnipeg on the TransCanada Highway. It is large enough to supply all the retail, medical, educational and cultural needs on a daily basis and small enough to avoid high costs of living and long commutes to the workplace. Brandon University has a significant reputation in music, general arts and science programs. Assiniboine Community College provides a wide range of education options. Part-Time and Full-Time Positions Available {open until filled}

The fully accredited Brandon Regional Health Centre is accepting applications for Emergency Department Physicians. Brandon Regional Health Centre has 300+ beds and receives about 29,000+ emergency visits per year with greater than 60% being CTAS 1-3. BRHC works in conjunction with the provincial trauma service providing much of the trauma care to Western Manitoba. There are also teaching opportunities if this is of interest to the applicant, as Brandon hosts a University of Manitoba, Rady Faculty of Health Sciences, Brandon satellite campus for various clinical clerk positions and resident training positions.

Remuneration/Hours
In accordance with the Manitoba Health/Doctors Manitoba Agreement ($253.02 -$444.32/hour depending on the shift)
• A 1.00 EFT position consists of ~1400 hours per year
• A 0.75 EFT position consists of ~1050 hours per year
• A 0.50 EFT position consists of ~700 hours per year

Required qualifications:
• Medical Degree, CCFP (or equivalent), FRCPC or CCFP (EM) – (EM must be obtained within 4 years of start date)
• Current licensure or eligible for full license with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Manitoba
• ATLS, ACLS, PALS, Airway course, Procedural sedation (must be obtained within 6 months of start date)
• Point of Care Ultrasound (within 2 years of start date)

Interested physicians should submit a CV with attention to ED training (example CCFP-EM), experience and up-to-date information regarding certification in PALS, ACLS, ATLS, etc.

We provide full obstetrical services providing 24/7 in-house coverage.

We seek a candidate who will combine office-based practice with hospital practice. The Department of Pediatrics in Prairie Mountain Health is seeking a full-time General Pediatrician to be located in Brandon, Manitoba. Brandon currently has two community-based pediatricians and three itinerant pediatricians who provide full hospital services 24/7.

We seek a candidate who will combine office-based pediatric practice with hospital practice, including NICU, inpatient care and emergency consultation services.  The successful candidate will also share the on-call rota in the hospital.

Prairie Mountain Health is offering an opportunity for a Psychiatrist to join our excellent medical services team in Dauphin Manitoba.

With a population of just under 10,000, Dauphin is the second largest city within our Region and is located a few short miles North of the Riding Mountain National Park. Home to Dauphin Country Fest and Ukrainian Festival, there is a variety of cultural events and lifestyle to suite all ages. Higher Education opportunities within Dauphin is available with Brandon University offering first year university courses as well as Assiniboine Community College, Parkland Campus offering full time courses.

The successful candidate will be responsible for continuing, comprehensive Psychiatric care to inpatients at the Dauphin Regional Health Centre (DRHC) and for providing support to the Community Mental Health services within the Region. The Dauphin Regional Health Centre is an accredited Acute Care facility with an general adult psychiatric ward with 10 designated psychiatry beds. Dauphin shares in servicing a large geographical area (67,000 sw kms) in Prairie Mountain Health and is a referral hub for communities in the Northern half of Prairie Mountain Health Region.

You will be a valued member of an interdisciplinary team within the Prairie Mountain Health Region working with community mental health providers and Family Physicians. The Psychiatrist will provide admission, examination, assessment, diagnosis, treatment and discharge management of patients requiring psychiatric care at the DRHC.

In addition to providing 1885 hours/annually (7.25 hrs/daily), the successful candidate will share equally in the Psychiatry on-call roster with other members of the mental health team. Leadership and teaching opportunities are available and encouraged. 

Qualifications:

  • The successful candidate must hold a Doctor of Medicine Degree with specialization in Psychiatry. 
  • FRCP in Psychiatry or eligibility for Royal College of Canada certification
  • Current or eligibility for licensure with the College of Physicians & Surgeons of Manitoba
  • Knowledge of the Mental Health Services delivery system and related community resources is an asset.
  • Must have or obtain proof of Canadian Medical Protective Association coverage under the appropriate category.

Remuneration:

Base income potential is between $350,026 – $500,000.00, but the potential to bill fee-for-service for some services can yield an additional $150,000 to $450,000 annually. Compensation is a combination of salary/on-call stipends/fee-for-service billing as well as opportunities for private practice. Salary and on-call stipends are in accordance with the provincial Doctors Manitoba negotiated contracts.

Position Summary:

Prairie Mountain Health is seeking a Radiologist to join the Radiology group at the Brandon Regional Health Centre to be located in Brandon, Manitoba. This position is for a diagnostic radiologist to join our primarily hospital-based practice. The hospital practices are high volume and include CT, radiology, ultrasound, fluoroscopy and MRI. General call duties are expected and include coverage of CT, US and Xray during the evening and weekends throughout the year. Call duties are split between all members of the group. Fellowship and non-fellowship trained applicants are welcome to apply. Candidates must have board certification in Diagnostic Radiology by the RCPSC by their start date. Prairie Mountain Health is currently recruiting two (2) skilled & ambitious Urologists to join our healthcare team in the city of Brandon Manitoba.

As the successful applicant, you will be responsible for examining, diagnosing, and treating urologic disorders, including surgical procedures, ordering diagnostic tests, and consulting with and providing urologic expertise to other physicians/ healthcare providers as required.

Brandon Regional Health Centre has 309 beds which includes 10 ICU beds. Brandon Regional Health Centre Diagnostic Services include radiology, ultrasound, CT, and MRI. There is a wide range of specialist services available onsite including pediatrics, obstetrics & gynecology, anesthesia, general surgery, radiology, nuclear medicine, oncology, orthopedic surgery, and internal medicine.

Applicants will have the opportunity to join one of the various clinics located throughout the city. All private clinics will have a competitive rate of overhead. There are also multiple teaching opportunities if this is of interest to the applicant, as Brandon hosts a University of Manitoba satellite campus for various clinical clerk positions and resident training positions through the CaRMS match. The successful candidate(s) will have the opportunity for an appointment to the University of Manitoba.

Remuneration
Fee-for-service based on agreement between Doctors Manitoba and Manitoba Healthy Living and Seniors (MHHLS).

Dependent on volume, anticipated fee-for-service annual compensation is $300,000.00 – $500,000.00, based on 40 hours a week (excluding on-call work).

The income is derived from all sources during the regular working day and does not include medical services provided after hours or weekends or holidays.

On-call stipends are paid separately per the Doctors Manitoba negotiated rates. For 24 hour off site on-call, current rate is $597.43. As a Fee for service Physicians, you are able to bill Fee for service while on-call.
