Prairie Mountain Health (PMH) is pleased to announce that effective April 1st, 2022, the majority of programs provided by the Addictions Foundation of Manitoba (AFM), within the boundaries of Prairie Mountain Health, are transitioning to become part of PMH. This includes:
- In-House Treatment Programs in Brandon (Parkwood) and Ste Rose (Willard Monson House)
- Community Program staff including Community Addictions Workers, Prevention and Education Consultants and Rehabilitation Counsellors
- The Manitoba Opiate Support and Treatment program in Brandon
With the transition of these programs we are welcoming over 80 AFM staff to our PMH family! We would like to extend the warmest of welcomes to our new colleagues and coworkers. We look forward to what we can do together!
The role these staff play on a daily basis will not change as part of this move, but this transition will support our ability to begin to deliver mental health and addictions services in ways that are more coordinated and better meet the needs of patients. Further to the VIRGO report, we recognize the significant need to enhance mental health and addictions services in Manitoba and while it will take time to accomplish, we are committed to working with direct-care providers to ensure our efforts to improve the system are successful.
