Canadian Patient Safety Week—Oct 29 to Nov 2

Prairie Mountain Health is proud to participate in Canadian Patient Safety Week (CPSW) October 29th to November 2nd 2018. The goal is to encourage healthcare providers, patients and families to speak up and ask questions related to any medications being taken.

This year’s theme is "Not All Meds Get Along". We are spreading the message along with the Canadian Patient Safety Institute (CPSI) and Manitoba Institute for Patient Safety (MIPS).

To help keep an accurate and detailed list of the medications you take, you can get a FREE medication card by visiting MIPS.

There are more deaths each year due to adverse events or preventable harm in Canadian hospitals than deaths from breast cancer, motor vehicle accidents and HIV combined.

  • Between 9,000 and 24,000 people die each year from preventable harm in healthcare.
  • Good healthcare starts with good communication. If something does not seem right, ask questions, listen to the answers and talk about your concerns.
