New faces strengthen primary health care and midwifery services across PMH
Prairie Mountain Health (PMH) is welcoming a number of new health-care providers who will help improve access to care for residents across the region. The additions include two new midwives and seven new nurse practitioner graduates who will begin serving communities this fall.
Midwifery
Joining PMH’s Midwifery Services team are Anna Lamontagne Badiou and My Duyen (Kelena) Van. Their arrival brings the program to its full complement of seven providers. Based in Brandon, the team supports families throughout pregnancy, birth, and the postpartum period. Both providers expressed enthusiasm about serving the region and supporting families across western Manitoba.
Anna, a graduate of McMaster University, shares, “Originally from Winnipeg, I’m thrilled to be back in Manitoba after completing my midwifery education at McMaster University. I’m excited to begin my career in Brandon and look forward to getting to know the community while supporting families throughout pregnancy, birth, and the postpartum period.”
Kelena, a University of Manitoba graduate, notes, “I am Cantonese, born in Vietnam, and immigrated to Canada in 2015. Since then, I have lived in Winnipeg and completed my Midwifery training and placements in Winnipeg, Winkler, and the Interlake region. I am thrilled to join Brandon Midwifery and hope that my multilingual abilities can improve accessibility to care for immigrants and newcomers in the area.”

Nurse Practitioners
PMH is also pleased to welcome seven University of Manitoba Master of Nursing-Nurse Practitioner graduates who will join the Primary Health Care team beginning September 21. The new practitioners will be be providing services in communities throughout the region, including Brandon, Melita, Glenboro, Wawanesa, Birdtail Sioux, Keeseekoowenin, Canupawakpa and Rivers.
During September and October, the graduates will complete mentorship requirements as part of their licensing process while beginning to provide patient care under supervision.
