Neepawa’s new health centre set to open later next year
The new Neepawa Health Centre is scheduled to open in late summer or early fall 2027. The timeline provides the appropriate time to complete construction and commissioning, onboard and train staff, and familiarize teams with the new facility and workflows before patients are admitted.
Opening a new health centre requires significant planning and coordination beyond the completion of construction. As work progresses, timelines are refined based on construction milestones, commissioning and operational readiness to ensure the facility is ready to safely care for patients from day one.
The new health centre will be approximately three and a half times the size of the existing hospital, significantly expanding health-care capacity for Neepawa and surrounding communities. Once complete, it will include:
- 60 acute care inpatient beds, up from 35 at the existing hospital;
- an expanded emergency department with treatment and assessment rooms, trauma rooms and an ambulance bay;
- a nine-station hemodialysis suite;
- expanded space for surgery, diagnostics, palliative care and birthing services;
- expanded outpatient services, including six chemotherapy treatment stations and therapy services; and
- a helipad.
Prairie Mountain Health continues to advance its health human resources plan for the new facility, including active recruitment, streamlined hiring and career development opportunities. Dedicated physician recruitment and retention coordinators are also working with the provincial Health Care Recruitment and Retention Coordination Office to support a strong, stable workforce for opening and beyond.
