Chairman Doug Deans Retires After 15 Years
The Dauphin Hospital Foundation held its Annual General Meeting (AGM) by way of virtual means Monday, October 26th. The audited financial statements for the period ending March 31, 2020 were presented by Jason Zamrykut of Zaplitny and Zamrykut. Following a question and answer session, the audited statements were adopted and the Auditor (Zapitny and Zamrykut) was appointed for the 2020/21 fiscal year.
At the end of the AGM, Chairman Doug Deans officially stepped down as Chair of the Board of Directors indicating it was time to turn the page and allow others to take the helm.
“I have really enjoyed my time on the Board of Directors, serving as Chair for over 15 years. The Board of Directors is well-served with representation from the City and RM of Dauphin, Health Care Auxiliary, and caring citizens with an interest in health care. The Foundation is in good hands as it works towards its mission of supporting and enhancing services and programs for Dauphin Regional Health Centre, Dauphin Personal Care Home and Dauphin Community Health Services Building.”
Deans says there have been many key accomplishments during his tenure but singles out a few notable ones.
“We really took a hard stance on the uncertainty of completing the MRI Unit in Dauphin. Despite delays, we advocated to the highest provincial levels to complete the project, which happened in late 2018. Through generous contributions, we have continued to work on the Palliative Care Redevelopment Project and phases of that initiative continue. Together, with the Health Care Auxiliary, we purchased a $50-thousand dollar patient manikin to support medical learning within our facility. Dauphin and Parkland citizens can be proud of all of these accomplishments.”
The Board presented Deans with a commemorative clock to acknowledge his many years of dedicated service to the Foundation.
The Board’s new Chair is Greg Thompson, while Malcom Strang serves as Vice-Chair.
