Responsible for providing continuing, comprehensive Medical Care to the Psychiatric inpatients at the Brandon Centre for Geriatric Care such as:
History and Physical on admission, medical reconciliations, ordering and review of investigations as required, attending ward rounds as warranted by patient needs, arranging specialist consults as needed, arranging transfers to the Hospitalist care if required, PCH panelling, medication reviews and ongoing communication with the psychiatric unit.
The position also requires participation in the afterhours and weekend on call schedule shared with other physicians for all psychiatry patients at the Centre for Geriatric Psychiatry, Centre for Adult Psychiatry and Crisis Stabilization Unit.
|This a salaried position and is paid as per the Brandon Psychiatrist and GP Collective Agreement between Prairie Mountain Health and Doctors. The salary is based on 1885 hours of work per year or 260/7.25-hour days of medical services/specialist medical services per annum (inclusive of vacation, statutory holiday and continuing medical education leave days). On call stipends are paid at $525.00/24 hour call. This remuneration is in accordance with the provincial on call specialist; Doc of the Day agreement and is dependent on the volume of call provided annually.|

Brandon University has a significant reputation in music, general arts and science programs. Assiniboine Community College provides a wide range of education options. Riding Mountain National Park is one hour north of the city, and the Peace Gardens are situated on the Manitoba/North Dakota border just over an hour to the south. There are numerous other recreational areas in Western Manitoba. Dubbed “The Host City”, Brandon’s enthusiastic volunteer base lands many provincial, national and international events. The “Wheat City” is a vibrant community in which to live, work and play.
