August is National Immunization Awareness Month

National Immunization Awareness Month (NIAM) is an annual event in August.  It serves to highlight the importance of immunizations throughout the lifespan.

The theme for 2026 is: The time is now. Protection can’t wait. Get immunized.

Vaccines are one of the most powerful tools in modern medicine, preventing the spread of deadly diseases and saving millions of lives. Vaccines not only protect individuals but also those most vulnerable, such as infants, the elderly, and people with weakened immune systems. The science is clear: vaccines are safe, effective, and help make our communities healthier.

Prairie Mountain Health continues to offer childhood and adult immunizations regularly through scheduled appointments, walk in and outreach events.  Contact your local Public Health office to schedule an appointment today or to inquire about what vaccines you are eligible for.
