Brandon Regional Health Centre

    Prairie Mountain Health is currently recruiting family physicians or internists to join the Hospitalists team at Brandon Regional Health Centre. The Brandon Regional Health Centre has 313 beds with a moderate-volume ER and a 10-bed ICU providing care to medical and surgical patients. Diagnostic Services consist of Radiology, Ultrasound, CT, MRI, and Nuclear Medicine. Other medical programs include Dialysis, Chemotherapy, Neurology, Clinical Neurophysiology, Cardiology, Respirology, and Gastroenterology. There are over 100 physicians, including family physicians and specialists, with admitting privileges at the health centre, and numerous medical clinics located throughout the city.
  • Must be eligible for licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Manitoba.
  • Must be a member in good standings with the Canadian Medical Protective Association under the appropriate category.
  • CCFP or FRCPC Preferred
  • ACLS required
  • Must have experience managing hospitalized patients

The primary role of the hospitalist would be to look after patients presenting to the hospital requiring inpatient admissions who do not have a physician with admitting privileges.  In serving as the Most Responsible Physician, you will manage all care including work-up, appropriate referrals, planning discharge and liaising with the community primary care provider.  A full-time position provides 26 weeks of care (7 days per stretch) per year, and a part-time position provides 13 weeks. The workday extends from 0800 - 1700 hours. There would be an on-call responsibility of a minimum average of 3 to 3.5 nights per week (26 weeks per year for full time and 13 weeks per year for half time).

REMUNERATION: Remuneration is in accordance with the agreement between the Minister of Health and Doctors Manitoba.

Brandon is a thriving city with a population of over 55,000, located 200 km west of Winnipeg on the TransCanada Highway. It is large enough to supply all the retail, medical, educational and cultural needs on a daily basis and small enough to avoid high costs of living and travel problems.  Brandon University has a significant reputation in music, general arts and science programs. Assiniboine Community College provides a wide range of education options. Riding Mountain National Park is one hour north of the city, and the Peace Gardens are situated on the Manitoba/North Dakota border just over an hour to the south.  There are numerous other recreational areas in Western Manitoba.  Dubbed “The Host City”, Brandon’s enthusiastic volunteer base land many provincial, national and international events.  The “Wheat City” is a vibrant community in which to live, work and play. Brandon Regional Health Centre is also a satellite program site for the University of Manitoba Medical School and promotes on site learning in the Brandon Hospital.
